Sass your SaaS

In other words, do talk back to your SaaS applications. Let me explain. Bahan Sadegh at Sandhill.com wrote an excellent article called 10 Questions To Ask A Potential SaaS Vendor. Number 10 on the list includes monitoring. Personally I think this needs to be a little higher on the list. What’s the point of having a SaaS application if it not accessible and YOU don’t know it. If your SaaS application is mission critical or at least available 24×7 (ATS maybe) then you might want to consider implementing your own monitoring. I would not rely on the SaaS vendor to do all the monitoring. If the application is suddenly not accessible, you want to be the first to know and not wait for the vendor to let you know sometime later or possibly not at all. It can be very embarrassing when your employees are the first to let you know that the SaaS application is not available. Setup some simple monitoring scripts (that would be where the talk back to your SaaS applications come in) to verify the login page appears and the application home page appears after login would be a good start.
